Hayley Matthews is West Indies cricket's newest prodigy, who, at the age of 11, captained her boys school team. A year later, she joined the Barbados senior women's team. Not long after, at the age of 16, Matthews made her international debut in a T20I against New Zealand in September 2014. However, the world first took note of her ability in her maiden ODI series in November 2014 - Matthews posted 55 in her debut and ended up with 241 runs in the series. The allrounder also made her WBBL debut for the Hobart Hurricanes in the tournament's inaugural edition, smashing a 51-ball 77 against the Melbourne Stars in one of the games. Matthews' moment of glory came in the 2016 Women's World T20 final when she struck 66 off 45 balls to script a title-winning chase by her side.
