Player Story

Big-hitting Tim David has forged a path like no other in Australian cricket. Born in Singapore and raised in Perth, in his younger years David struggled to make an impact at state level and, despite landing a Big Bash contract, similarly struggled for regular matches with the Perth Scorchers. Dedicating his career to the 20-over format, in 2019 he opted to play for his country of birth and, soon after, things began to rapidly change for the ‘finisher’. Signed by the Hobart Hurricanes for the 2020-21 season, David flourished in the Apple Isle and soon found himself playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League. Success followed there and subsequently in the UK, further boosting his profile. In early 2022, David landed a mammoth AUD$1.5 million IPL deal with Mumbai Indians. The step up didn’t faze him; in fact he thrived, finishing the tournament with the highest ever strike-rate (216.27) from a player to have faced a minimum of 50 balls. In September 2022 David made his debut for Australia (under ICC eligibility rules) against India in Mohali and, in just his third match, smashed 54 off 27 in Hyderabad.
